How Referrals Work After a Review Submission
This training will show you how the referral process is triggered after a user fills out the review form, leading them to a referral page where they can refer a friend. We will also cover the steps involved in sending referral emails and texts, tagging users, and managing the referral leads in the SMART REFERRALS Pipeline.
Step 1: Completing the Review System
- Client Fills Out the Review
- When a client fills out the Review,
-
- They are automatically redirected to the Referral Page after submitting the review.
Step 2: The Referral Page and Referral Form
- Referral Form on the Page

Step 3: Reward System and Tagging
-
Referral Rewards
- The referrer (the person submitting the review) claims their discount or reward for the successful referral.
- The referrer is tagged with a custom tag, like “ReferralOfferClaim” to mark that they’ve claimed their reward.
-
Referral Tagging
- Both the referrer (Test 1) and the referred friend (Test 2) are tagged and added to the SMART REFERRALS Pipeline in the Booking Stage.
- Test 1 (referrer) will be tagged as ReferralOfferClaim.
- Test 2 (referred) is also added to the pipeline as a Lead.
- Both the referrer (Test 1) and the referred friend (Test 2) are tagged and added to the SMART REFERRALS Pipeline in the Booking Stage.
Step 4: Creating the Opportunity
- Opportunity Created in SMART REFERRALS Pipeline
- In the SMART REFERRALS Pipeline, an opportunity is automatically created for the referred person. For example:
- Test 2 (Referred By Test 1) requests information.
- This opportunity is created under the Booking Stage, signifying that Test 2 is a new lead who came through the referral process.
- In the SMART REFERRALS Pipeline, an opportunity is automatically created for the referred person. For example:
Step 5: Viewing the Referral in the Referral Dashboard
-
Referral Added to Leaderboard
- The referral leaderboard now shows Test 2 as a new lead.
- You can see Test 2 listed in the Referral Dashboard with a Lead status.
-
Viewing the Lead’s Information
- By clicking on Test 2’s entry in the leaderboard, you can access their detailed contact information, including:
- Name
- Phone number
- Referral source
- By clicking on Test 2’s entry in the leaderboard, you can access their detailed contact information, including:
- This way you will be able to see how many leads a person brings in along with their contact details.
Step 6: Test 2 Added to Contacts
- Referral Added to Contacts
- Test 2 (the referred friend) is also automatically added to your Contacts in GoHighLevel.
- This allows you to track and manage them just like any other contact in your database, and you can follow up with them, set appointments, or continue nurturing the relationship.
Summary:
With this automated referral process:
- After submitting a review, users are redirected to a referral form where they can refer a friend.
- Referral emails and texts are automatically sent to the referred individual with the offer details.
- Both the referrer and the referred person are tagged and added to the SMART REFERRALS Pipeline.
- An opportunity is created in the pipeline for the referred person (as a Lead), and you can see detailed contact information in the Referral Dashboard and the Contacts section.
This process helps you effectively manage referrals and monitor the success of your referral program, making it easy to track, follow up with, and reward customers who bring in new leads.
